El Callejon

I come here often and get their vegetarian arepa. The flavors are delicious, it’s a nice filling casual meal, and it’s not too expensive. The actual shop is quite small but I rarely have an issue getting a table. It’s run by a cute duo and they work like all the hours. Also they are only open for lunch hours. I wish they did dinner too but I wouldn’t want the duo to overwork themselves.

Great small mom and pop restaurant. Came across this location while walking downtown Golden and the puposas were definitely the best part. Nice consistency with the dough, cheese and filling of choice. The hortcha was a plus, a great cold sweet drink.

Absolutely delicious and fresh food. I got the pork and green chile pupusa, and the chips and guac. Everything was made to order and absolutely incredible!

Came here for lunch and our food was excellent! We got tamales, pupusa, and passion fruit juice. Would highly recommend. Great Colombian food and employees were very kind.

When I lived in CO, I would come here all the time for lunch. I no longer live in CO, but always make a point to come to Golden to get my favorite meal from here when I visit. THE BEST. So so delicious. I dream about these papusas!! And the rice is so good, and the chipotle sauce is to die for. Also one of the mango juice drinks. Highly recommend!

Visiting from out of town. The owner was super sweet and patient with us as we looked over the menu and tried to decide what to get. Food was very fresh and tasty. Inside is comfy to sit and eat even though it’s a little smaller. Nice patio seating outside as well.

One of my absolute favorite local spots. El Callejon has some of the best tasting food I’ve had the pleasure of eating, Latin American or not. The crown jewel in my opinion is the Colombian tamale. This dish has such a myriad of terrifically combined flavors, definitely a must try! The Super Arepa is my number two pick with another diverse set of flavors and textures that make the mouth water. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and they’re freshly blended fruit drinks are so refreshing as well. The staff are courteous and the chefs are so skilled!

I wish I could rate this place more! I got a pork pupusos and it was top tier. It comes with some sort of salsa and creme sauce. Neither are spicy, both are delicious. I ate outside and had a lovely view of the mountains. I also had a passion fruit juice which was so good and fresh. For dessert I opted to grab a papaya candy they were selling at the register.... Sweet but not too sweet. I would go here again if I'm ever in the area.
